Questions about mental health treatment at Wings
Straight answers about length of stay, insurance, housing and what to expect.
Don't see your question?
Admissions answers calls 9 a.m.–5 p.m., seven days a week. Calls are confidential.
Call(760) 388-6369Visits, phones, what to bring and more in the admissions FAQ →All the ways to reach Wings →How long will I be in treatment?
It depends on how treatment is going. Length of stay is set clinically, reviewed as you progress, and varies by level of care and by what your plan authorizes. Admissions can explain how it usually works for your situation.
How soon can I start?
Call admissions to find out where things stand today. Once your insurance is verified and the clinical assessment is done, admissions helps you set a start date.
Will my insurance cover treatment at Wings?
Wings works with many PPO plans, including Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Cigna, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Optum and UMR. Coverage depends on your plan, so we verify your benefits before admission at no cost. If you have Medi-Cal or Medicare, admissions can point you to programs that accept them.
Can I come to Wings straight from a psychiatric hospital?
Yes. Wings is often the next step after an inpatient stay. We work with discharge planners so the move is planned, not rushed.
Will I have individual therapy, or only groups?
Both. In residential you have four individual sessions a week, two with your primary therapist and two with your trauma therapist. PHP includes three a week and IOP two, alongside daily process and skills groups and a weekly visit with psychiatry.
Where will I live during treatment?
Clients in PHP and IOP can live in Wings supportive housing in North County San Diego, with house managers on site. Admissions explains how residents get to the Carlsbad offices.
Can I take leave from work while I am in treatment?
You may be able to use FMLA or short-term disability. Admissions can walk you through the paperwork before you start.
I'm calling about an adult family member. What can you tell me?
We can explain the program, the levels of care and how admission works. Because your loved one is an adult, we need their written consent before we share details about their care.
