Mental health conditions we treat

Wings is a primary mental health program. Most people who come to us have tried therapy, medication or a hospital stay, and need more structure than weekly sessions can give.

Our focus

Trauma and PTSD

Trauma-focused, not only trauma-informed. Every client has a trauma therapist, and EMDR is our primary trauma therapy.

I flew to CA from NJ for treatment after years of regular hospitalizations and the inability to maintain any kind of consistent stability. I came for a different treatment center that was not as advertised, and thankfully, I was transfered to wings after just 1 week. I spent the next 5 months at Wings, moving between Residential, PhP and IoP levels of care. I received excellent care from my primary and trauma therapist. Both of my therapists (Danielle & Guli) worked with me to not only work through trauma and symptoms that had been debilitating , but to navigate unexpected life changes that occured during my time in treatment. I was impressed with the set up that Wings had for Orthodox Jews and their commitment to going above and beyond to ensure that all needs were met. The groups, for the most part, were very helpful in allowing me to work on areas of my life that has been contributing to such emotional and mental instability. The clinicians were supportive and committed to creating a safe and productive therapeutic space. I came to Wings with a deep sense of hopelessness and belief that my symptoms and presentation would be untreatable, as it had been up until then. For the first time since I can remember, I feel capable, confident and hopeful for my future. The sense of community and support I experienced with other clients made such a huge difference in my recovery. I am deeply grateful for my time at Wings and the impact it has, and will continue to have on my life.

I traveled all the way from Philadelphia after years of unsuccessful attempts to work through traumatic experiences I had carried since my teenage years. When I arrived at Wings, I truly believed I was beyond help and that I would always suffer from severe PTSD symptoms. The person I am today is not the same person who walked through those doors. Wings gave me the tools and support to heal, manage my trauma in healthy ways, and find myself again. My trauma didn’t disappear, but it no longer controls my life. Because of Wings, I have been able to move forward with purpose, confidence, and hope. I will always be grateful for the role they played in helping me reclaim my life.

My experience with Wings was through a loved one attending. The entire experience was extremely positive. The staff was super communicative and made us comfortable with the fact that we were sending our loved one across the country. I work in the recovery field and Wings exceeded any and all expectations I had. This facility treats the whole patient, I would recommend them to anyone seeking help for themselves or a loved one.

Wings was a critical time for me in my recovery and journey back to mental health. The therapy provided in both group and one on one settings combined with the support and daily input from the staff was truly life changing. I am forever grateful.

Probably the best center for treating my mental health. It’s not to say it wasn’t challenging though. My favorite part was the support and comfort I got from Sherry the house manager and her partner when she was out of town. I felt so supported and respected’

I’ve been at Wings recovery for the past 30 days and I have had nothing but the best experience I absolutely adore Cody and Sydney 🌻, the medical assistant my therapist, Stephanie met with me today of my intake and absolutely cared for me and provided me with the best therapy along with Kalia with the EMDR. All the groups are ran very well very structured so if you’re looking for a place where you can actually get real treatment. Wings is definitely on top of the list. Also, the client care technicians from Lidia ❤️❤️❤️, Jasmine, Jocelyn, Angelina Katie Kendall, and all the others have been so gracious absolutely Liz is amazing also I want to thank Danny who picked me up and I was having a panic attack she was so supportive and comforting. Also Alexis is super supportive and gets things done

FAQ

Questions about mental health treatment at Wings

Straight answers about length of stay, insurance, housing and what to expect.

Don't see your question?

Admissions answers calls 9 a.m.–5 p.m., seven days a week. Calls are confidential.

How long will I be in treatment?

It depends on how treatment is going. Length of stay is set clinically, reviewed as you progress, and varies by level of care and by what your plan authorizes. Admissions can explain how it usually works for your situation.

How soon can I start?

Call admissions to find out where things stand today. Once your insurance is verified and the clinical assessment is done, admissions helps you set a start date.

Will my insurance cover treatment at Wings?

Wings works with many PPO plans, including Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Cigna, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Optum and UMR. Coverage depends on your plan, so we verify your benefits before admission at no cost. If you have Medi-Cal or Medicare, admissions can point you to programs that accept them.

Can I come to Wings straight from a psychiatric hospital?

Yes. Wings is often the next step after an inpatient stay. We work with discharge planners so the move is planned, not rushed.

Will I have individual therapy, or only groups?

Both. In residential you have four individual sessions a week, two with your primary therapist and two with your trauma therapist. PHP includes three a week and IOP two, alongside daily process and skills groups and a weekly visit with psychiatry.

Where will I live during treatment?

Clients in PHP and IOP can live in Wings supportive housing in North County San Diego, with house managers on site. Admissions explains how residents get to the Carlsbad offices.

Can I take leave from work while I am in treatment?

You may be able to use FMLA or short-term disability. Admissions can walk you through the paperwork before you start.

I'm calling about an adult family member. What can you tell me?

We can explain the program, the levels of care and how admission works. Because your loved one is an adult, we need their written consent before we share details about their care.
