Cost of Residential Mental Health Treatment
What you pay depends on the level of care, how long you stay and what your insurance covers. Admissions checks your benefits and gives you your own estimate before you commit.
Why there is no single price for treatment
Two people in the same program can pay very different amounts, depending on their plan, their deductible and how long they stay. Instead of a price that may not apply to you, admissions works out your number with you.
What you get from admissions
- What your plan is expected to pay
- What you may owe, and when
- Private pay rates if you have no coverage
- All of it before you commit
Five things that decide what you pay
Level of care
Residential includes 24-hour support and housing, so it costs more than PHP, and PHP more than IOP.
Length of stay
Set clinically and reviewed as you progress. Most people step down to PHP and IOP over time.
Your insurance
Your deductible, coinsurance and out-of-pocket maximum decide most of what you pay.
Authorization
How many days your plan approves at each level, and when it reviews them.
Housing during PHP or IOP
Supportive housing is optional. Admissions explains it separately if you choose it.

What each level of care includes
The more support a level gives, the more it costs. The clinical assessment decides where you start, and your plan decides how many days it covers.

Days in treatmentPartial hospitalization (PHP)
About six hours a day, five days a week, living at home or in supportive housing.

Most people use their insurance
Wings works with many PPO plans. Your out-of-pocket maximum caps what you pay in a plan year, which matters for longer treatment. If your plan has no in-network option, a single case agreement may be possible.
If insurance is not the whole answer
Private pay
Admissions explains private pay rates for your plan of care before admission.
Payment options
Ask admissions what payment options are available for your situation.
Family paying
Parents and partners often pay or add coverage. The adult in treatment still signs their own consent.
Time off work
FMLA and short-term disability can protect your job and part of your income.
Wings works with private PPO plans. For Medi-Cal or Medicare, admissions can point you to programs that accept them.

It depends on the level of care, how long you stay and what your insurance covers. Admissions checks your benefits and gives you your own estimate before admission. Wings does not publish a price list because one number would not be accurate for most people.
Will my insurance cover it?
Many PPO plans cover residential, PHP and IOP, in-network or out-of-network. Admissions verifies your benefits for free and explains what you may owe.
Can I pay privately?
Yes. Admissions explains private pay rates for your plan of care before admission, so you know the cost before you commit.
Does Wings offer payment plans or financing?
Ask admissions. They can explain the payment options available for your situation.
Can a parent pay for an adult child’s treatment?
Yes. Family can pay, or the treatment can be covered under a parent’s plan. The adult in treatment still agrees to treatment and signs their own consent.
What about time off work?
FMLA and short-term disability can protect your job and part of your income while you are in treatment. Admissions can explain what paperwork is usually needed.
Does Wings accept Medi-Cal or Medicare?
Wings works with many private PPO plans. If you have Medi-Cal or Medicare, admissions can point you to programs that accept your plan.
