When depression is more than a bad stretch

Low most days
A heavy, flat or empty mood that does not lift for weeks.
Sleep and energy gone
Sleeping too much or too little, and tired no matter what.
Pulling away
Not getting out of bed, cancelling plans, and avoiding people.
Work slipping
Missed days, a leave of absence, or struggling to get through the day.
Drinking to cope
Alcohol or other drugs to sleep, numb out or feel something.
Thoughts of not being here
Hopelessness or suicidal thoughts. If you are in danger now, call 911 or 988.

Medication, therapy and routine, working together
Weekly psychiatry
A medication visit with psychiatry every week, so changes are made and checked quickly.
A primary therapist and a trauma therapist
Depression often sits on top of trauma. Two clinicians work on both from the start.
Skills you practice every day
DBT, CBT and ACT skills groups, then time to use them in daily routines.
Structure and routine
Residential days run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with meals, sleep and activity built back in.
The same therapist at every level
Step down to PHP and IOP as you improve, without retelling your story.
Depression doesn't always look like sadness
In men, depression often shows up as anger, overwork or drinking, and it is easy to miss until it starts costing them at work and at home. The Wings men's program is built around that, with groups only for men.
- Irritability and anger instead of sadness
- Working harder, or not being able to work at all
- Drinking more to take the edge off
- Pulling away from a wife, partner or kids
The women's program
Depression treated alongside trauma, anxiety and relationships, in groups only with other women.
Women's mental health treatment
Residential depression treatment, then PHP and IOP
The clinical assessment decides where you start. Length of stay is set clinically, reviewed as you progress, and depends on what your plan authorizes.

When weekly therapy, medication or an outpatient program has not been enough, and depression is disrupting work, home or safety. The clinical assessment decides the right level of care.
I have tried several medications. Can Wings help?
Psychiatry sees you every week in residential, so medication changes can be made and checked quickly, alongside daily therapy. Admissions can talk through what you have tried.

Yes. Wings is often the next step after an inpatient stay or a 5150 hold. We work with discharge planners on timing and records.
Can I keep working during treatment?
In IOP, yes, with morning or evening options. For residential or PHP, admissions can explain FMLA and short-term disability.
Does Wings treat depression with trauma or anxiety?

Are men and women treated together?
Wings runs a men's program and a women's program, each with its own office and groups.
Will insurance cover depression treatment?
Wings works with many PPO plans, including Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Cigna, Aetna and UnitedHealthcare. Admissions verifies your benefits before admission at no cost. If you have Medi-Cal or Medicare, admissions can point you to programs that accept them.
