Why groups matter

Group therapy, where many people say the change happened

  • You are not the only one

Hearing your own story from someone else breaks the isolation.

  • Practice, not just talk

Skills from individual sessions get tried out with real people.

  • Feedback you can trust

Peers notice patterns, and say so with care.

  • A safe group to talk in

Groups are only with other men, or only with other women.

I only want individual therapy. Is that possible?

Individual therapy is at the core of Wings: four sessions a week in residential, three in PHP and two in IOP. Groups are part of every treatment day too, because practicing with others is where many skills stick.

How many individual sessions will I have?

Four a week in residential (two with your primary therapist, two with your trauma therapist), three in PHP and two in IOP.

What happens in group therapy?

A therapist leads a small group of men or of women. Some groups teach skills such as DBT and CBT, others are open conversations. You do not have to share before you are ready.

Are groups mixed?

Groups are only with other men or only with other women.

Does Wings have DBT group therapy in Carlsbad?

Yes. DBT skills groups are part of the program at both offices in Carlsbad.

Do I have to share my trauma in group?

Details are for individual sessions, at your pace. In group, you decide what to share.
