Trauma, depression and anxiety that outpatient care hasn't reached
Women often reach Wings after years of therapy, medication or a hospital stay. By then what happened is usually showing up everywhere: in relationships, in sleep, and in how safe the world feels.
Trauma and PTSD
Past experiences that keep showing up in sleep, relationships and how safe you feel day to day.
Depression
Low mood, no energy and losing interest in things that used to matter, even after outpatient care.
Anxiety and panic
Constant worry, panic attacks and feeling on edge at home, at work or at school.
Suicidal thoughts and self-harm
Thoughts of not wanting to be here, or hurting yourself to get through what you feel.
Drinking or drug use alongside it
When mental health is the main concern and substance use has become part of how you cope.
After a psychiatric hospital stay
A planned next step after an inpatient stay or 5150 hold, with timing worked out with discharge planners.

A program built for women, with time to do the work
Groups with other women
Process and skills groups, including DBT, CBT and ACT skills, in a program with its own office, only for women.
A primary therapist and a trauma therapist
Two clinicians who get to know you and your story, and build the plan with you at your pace.
The same therapist at every level
Stay with Wings from residential to PHP to IOP and you keep your therapist, so you never retell your story.
On-site psychiatry
A medication visit with psychiatry every week, with changes as treatment moves.
Full, structured days
Residential days run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with individual sessions, groups and time to practice what you learn.
Residential, PHP and IOP for women
You step down as you are ready. How long each stage lasts is decided clinically, reviewed as treatment goes, and depends on what your plan authorizes.

Care for trauma that happened in relationships
Much of the trauma women bring to Wings happened with someone they knew: sexual assault or abuse, an abusive partner, or a childhood that never felt safe. It often shows up later as depression, anxiety, self-harm or relationships that keep repeating the same pattern.
Every woman in the program has a trauma therapist on her team. You set the pace: skills to feel steadier come first, and trauma therapies such as EMDR are added as you are ready, in groups only with other women.
When another program or level of care fits better
If another program would serve you or the woman you are calling about better, admissions will say so and help with the next step.
A primary eating disorder
Admissions can point you to a program that specializes in it
Addiction or detox is the main concern
Admissions will help you find a program that fits
Active psychosis
This needs a different level of care
Under 18
Admissions can point you to adolescent care
Calling for a daughter, wife or mother
You can call before she is ready
Admissions can explain the program, the levels of care and how admission works, even if she hasn't agreed to anything yet.
She makes the final decision
She is an adult, so she agrees to treatment and signs her own consent. We need that consent before we share details about her care.
Family can stay involved
With her consent, family can be part of treatment. Admissions explains how that works at each level of care.

Questions about the women's program
Trauma at your own pace, what happens after a hospital stay, calling for someone you love, and insurance.
Don't see your question?
Admissions answers calls 9 a.m.–5 p.m., seven days a week. Calls are confidential.
Call(760) 388-6369Visits, phones, what to bring and more in the admissions FAQ →All the ways to reach Wings →Is the women's program separate from the men's program?
Yes. The women's program has its own office at 2386 Faraday Ave in Carlsbad, and its groups are for women only.
Do I have to talk about my trauma right away?
You and your therapists set the pace. Skills to feel steadier come first, and trauma therapies such as EMDR are added as you are ready.
Can I come to Wings straight from a psychiatric hospital?
Yes. Wings is often the next step after an inpatient stay or a 5150 hold. We work with discharge planners on timing and records so the move is planned, not rushed.
Will I see the same therapist the whole time?
Yes, if you stay with Wings through the continuum. You keep your therapist when you step down from residential to PHP and IOP.
Does Wings treat eating disorders?
Not as the main concern. If an eating disorder is the primary problem, admissions can point you to a program that specializes in it.
My daughter or wife doesn't want help. What can I do?
You can call admissions on your own to understand the options. Because she is an adult, she makes the final decision and signs her own consent, and we can talk through how to raise it with her.
Will my insurance cover treatment?
Wings works with many PPO plans, including Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Cigna, Aetna and UnitedHealthcare. Coverage depends on your plan, so admissions verifies your benefits before admission at no cost. If you have Medi-Cal or Medicare, admissions can point you to programs that accept them.
